Garrison Brothers announces sonora bourbon

Story written by the Fredericksburg Standard-Radio Post

Garrison Brothers Distillery, the first and oldest legal whiskey distillery in Texas and the first outside of Kentucky to produce handcrafter corn-to-cork bourbon whiskey, has announced its newest bourbon “Sonora,” which will release on Saturday, Oct. 18.

“Just as these caverns have been shaped by time and patience, Sonora is the culmination of years of craftsmanship, passion and the relentless pursuit of excellence,” marketing officials said.

Sonora Texas straight bourbon is aged for seven years, including four years in new white American Oak barrels and three years in rye whiskey barrels before being sealed with red wax and bottled at 108 proof.

This is the ninth expression in Garrison Brothers’ award-winning portfolio, and was a collaborative effort between master distiller Donnis Todd and Samantha Olvera. Olvera has been a leader within the distilling team for the last seven years and is also the first female Latina in Texas to craft bourbon from grain to glass.

Olvera helped manage the project alongside Nancy Garrison, Todd and marketing director Ciara Knee-Chavez.
