Nose: Classic rye character right out of the gate—warm baking spices with cinnamon, clove, and black pepper leading the way. Toasted oak adds depth, while subtle dried fruit lingers in the background. It’s inviting, like stepping into a kitchen where mulled cider is simmering on the stove.
Palate: Bold and Rye forward. This isn’t a Kentucky-style rye that’s sweeter on the palate and could pass for bourbon. You will know that this is a rye whiskey. The rye spice charges forward—cinnamon and cracked peppercorns—before easing into some softer vanilla notes. There’s a little sweetness tucked in as you round out the back palate.
Finish: Shot to medium and warming. The spice trails off into gentle sweetness, with oak and clove leaving a lasting impression. It’s the kind of finish that reminds you why rye lovers keep coming back—it does linger, but never overstays its welcome.
This isn’t a shy whiskey—it’s a rye that wears its spice on its sleeve, but gives enough sweetness to keep you reaching for another sip. Perfect neat if you love bold flavors, with a single cube if you want to stretch out the finish, or as the backbone of a Manhattan that actually tastes like rye.
At around 2 years old you won’t get a ton of well-aged characteristics from this whiskey but when you think about how tasty it is at such a young age, the potential for this is through the roof.
